This 1917 historic Mission Revival is the perfect blend of authentic architectural detail and modern elegance. The winner of the 2020 prestigious Dallas Preservation Achievement Award, this light and bright beauty is a feast for the eyes. 5125 Swiss Avenue sits on a heavily treed corner lot on more than three quarters of an acre. The exterior is a smooth stucco with a green barreltiled roof visor which projects from the facade like a continuous awning. Walking up to the home, you are greeted by an entry portico and adjoining terrace paved with the original geometric patterned green and grey tile. Rising above the portico and the roof visor are sculptured parapets, a prominent Mission Revival element. As you enter through the wide front door with its decorative scrollwork, exquisite millwork is throughout the gracious living room. The crown moldings, stair railings, and original custom built-ins have all been restored to perfection. The gracious living room also features four original sconces, a two-way Rookwood fireplace and beautiful French doors leading to the spacious, sun-filled dining room and cozy sunroom. In 2015, while the roof was being replaced due to hail damage, a microburst storm hit causing extensive water damage to the home. The event forced the owners to move out for more than two years so contractors could take the home to the studs and meticulously restore it to its original glory. At that time, the owners also added a generous great room with floor to ceiling windows. It blends seamlessly with the original architecture and looks out onto the spectacular grounds. The phenomenal, updated gourmet kitchen now features stunning Calacatta Gold Marble countertops and Thermador appliances including a 6-burner cooktop and stainless steel Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer. There is also a built-in wine refrigerator, warming drawer and double ovens. A sun drenched breakfast nook with original built-ins is the perfect spot for morning coffee. The downstairs floors were custom made in 2017 to match the original floors destroyed in the flood. They are one and a half inch quarter sawn white oak wood floors. The upstairs includes original heart pine flooring. The master suite was expanded to accommodate two spacious walk-in closets. The master bath has double vanities, a walk-in shower with jetted tub and Rojo Alicante marble. An adjoining sunroom/office could also work well as a nursery. Two additional bedrooms are upstairs. One has an updated ensuite bath with freestanding tub/shower. The original sleeping porch is currently being used as an office but could also be a playroom or even a kid's bedroom. A full size laundry with built-in cabinets is conveniently located upstairs outside the bedrooms. The saltwater pool was just completed in 2019 and includes fountains, a waterfall, colored lighting and is all wifi operational. The surrounding patio is adorned with artificial turf for easy upkeep. The lush landscaping includes Oak, Pecan and Bradford Pear Trees. The full quarters over the garage measures 727 square feet and includes a living, bedroom, bath and full kitchen. There is also storage with a washer/ dryer and tankless hot water heater. The home also features a huge grassy area behind the garage/quarters, a Generac emergency generator for the home, pool and wifi, updated plumbing and electric, tankless hot water heaters, a water filtration system, walk-in storage closet & pantry, Lutron wifi LED lighting system, electric shades, circle driveway and electric gate. The house was built by W. A Green, founder of the W.A. Green department store in downtown Dallas. The original building cost was budged at $9,000 but by the time it was completed it had ballooned to $14,000. The home is minutes to downtown Dallas and Love Field. Enjoy biking around nearby White Rock Lake, fabulous restaurants on Lower Greenville/ Lakewood and golf at local private and public courses. Quarters over garage are additional 727 sq feet.
